Activities
In the area there are many things to do and sites to visit. In the house you will find an extensive manual on the house and documentation and leaflets on possible day trips and excursions in the region. Furthermore you will find an overview of good restaurants in the area, market days and other useful information. Saint Jean de Minervois has its own cosy typically French restaurant located in the old school.This is a short summery of some possibilities for excursions in the region:
- Outdoor horse rides in Pardailhan or Assignan (10% discount for our tenants).- A visit to the cosy markets in Saint Pons, Béziers, Narbonne and Saint Chinian.
- Renting bikes in Saint Chinian
- Visiting the medieval fortified town of Carcassonne with many jousting fairs.
- Visiting the nine locks known as the ‘Neuf écluses de Fonséranese in the Canal du Midi near Béziers.
- Visiting the seaside at Valras Plage or Narbonne plage which can be combined with a visit to Cap d’Agde (modern harbour and Aqualand) or Sète (lovely fishing village and oyster farms).
- Visiting Minerve, a lovely Cathar village with a natural bridge and a lot of artists.
- Visiting famous wine houses in Saint Chinian, the wine museum and of course tasting the famous Muscat of Saint Jean.
- A visit to the African Sigean Safari Park just outside of Narbonne.
- Canoeing or Kayaking around Roquebrun, where you will find unique plants duet o the microclimate.
- Walking / hiking in the Parc Regional du Haut-Languedoc, through the gorges d’Heric, on the Caroux for a magnificent view or round the mountain lake Saut de Vésoles.
